Bigger is NOT always Better...MINI SESSIONS!!!

"If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way."
-Napoleon Hill

I love brilliant ideas. I also love things in small portions. Like discipline. I like that ONLY in small portions.

If I know my clients, which I think that I do...I know that they are busy people who love to live life but don't always have time for a 90 minute photo session! So here we go, I am making it easy for you!

You just come by for 30 minutes of modeling and in turn will receive a disc of 5-10 edited images with a copyright release! So, if you're sick of looking at the family photos where everyone is in matching turtle-necks and are sporting mullets...Or if your children are years older than the last time you took them to J.C. Penny for a portrait session...THIS IS FOR YOU!

A mini-session is great for some updated pictures to put on the walls or to send to grandparents. Maybe even to put on a Christmas Card! But they are more affordable and take less time out of your busy life to get done! This is a win-win. Ya?!

One Year Later

"If I had one gift that I could give you, my friend, it would be the ability to see yourself as others see you, because only then would you know how extremely special you are."

~B.A. Billingsly~

I am extremely blessed. Today I was thinking about all of the people in my life who enhance it and I was overwhelmed. Brettany and Steve are two of those people. If you have looked at my blog before, you probably know that I am their biggest fan! Baby Dawson is adorable and he is growing so much, but he still is a little peanut. Its been a few months since he arrived and made their family complete. We decided to take some pictures. I love having beautiful best friends. Don't you?

They celebrated their one year anniversary yesterday and it is crazy to believe that it has already been a year, but also that it has only been a year!!! I feel like they have been together forever. So much has happened in a year, and I am blessed to be a part of their life.

Here are a few pictures of my favorite family of 3...Besides my own.

Aren't they pretty!?!?! And Hurley, their kitty decided to get in on the action.

Life is Splendid.

Life in a Bag.

"A vacation is having nothing to do and all day to do it in."
-Robert Orben

The last week has been much needed. I spent the week with Generational Leadership at Lake Roosevelt living life on the beach. It was basically perfect. Full of sand, messy hair, tank tops and flip flops, freckles, volleyball and wakeboarding, and boat rides. Story of my summer. My cell phone didn't have service and so that meant no phone calls, texts, or e-mails for a whole week. I loved it. Waking up to the sunlight and not to an alarm clock is the best thing.

This is one of my favorite pictures. It was from the wedding I shot in April. Pictures of my messy life packed into a bag. Plus, my favorite pair of boots.

Pack your bag, take a trip, a long drive, get away. Turn off your phone and let your brain breathe.

Some pictures from recent sessions will be coming soon, I promise!!!

Thank you for your constant support and encouragement!

Frosting Makes Instant Friends.

"Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things."
-Robert Brault

Kacie e-mailed me and asked if I would be available during their vacation to Seattle for a family session and some pictures of their precious baby girl Kalee. She said "I have been an admirer of your work for quite a while". WHAT! An admirer!? First, I almost passed out. Then, I checked the window for signs of paparazzi. No paparazzi, so I continued walking around the house in my sweatpants with my hair looking like something out of Mulan.

When Monday came, the weather was perfectly overcast (MY FAVORITE for pictures) and Evan's parent's house had the perfect locations for some beautiful pictures. When I walked into the house, immediately Kalee wanted me to hold her. Be still my heart! I love babies and 14 months is one of my favorite ages! We played with my keys for a while and they she changed into her denim romper. The afternoon was perfect.

To end the day, Kalee got a giant cupcake all to herself. Frosting faces are the cutest. I'm pretty sure now she is going to love when she sees me. Frosting makes instant friends. She loved getting it all in her face. Next time I'm going to use her method and grab the cupcake and smear it all over. It apparently is the most fun way to eat cake.

Kacie & Evan, THANK YOU! I had such a good time with you and I absolutely love your baby girl! Come back soon for more pictures! You have a beautiful family and I can tell that you love your life! You are fabulous people. See you soon!

Take a look at this perfect fam-bam...Go grab yourself a cupcake.

Life is best when messes are allowed.

Vacation from My Problems

"You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me."
-C.S. Lewis

This week has been full. Full of to-do lists, running around like a headless chicken, bad hair days, 4 outfits a day, laughing, playing, drinking caffeinated beverages, and sleep. But a full life is a good life. Right?

The last couple of years, I have a new favorite thing. Amazon.com. Getting books in the mail is like Christmas all year round. Good thing that I also have a new love for reading. It is the best thing to do when laying in the sun, or wrapped in a blanket on a cold day, or before falling asleep at night. The last few weeks I have been reading like it's going out of style. In the midst of chaos and stress, reading is like a vacation. I have a problem thinking of 2 things at the same time, so when I read, it's all I can focus on. Basically, like a vacation from my problems. Yes, please.

Here are a few books that I can't get enough of...

Soul Cravings by Erwin McManus is my favorite book of all time. It is broken up into baby 2-4 page sections called "Entries" and each one is full of truth, hope, encouragement. It is about our relationship with God, with each other, with ourselves, and about our destiny. Get it, read it, love it.

The Missing Piece Meets the Big O by Shel Silverstein is the sweetest book. It is about finding your perfect match. But not how you would expect it. I'm pretty sure I teared up. And it takes about 3 minutes to read. Believe me, it's worth the 180 seconds.

Hope for the Flowers by Trina Paulus makes the hard decisions in life easier to make. It's about choices, and leaving behind things in order for better things to happen. I read it when I am having a rough patch.

Anyway! I would love to hear what your favorite books are! It can be about anything!

Life is better with breaks to relax.

Spandex, Watermelon, & Reminiscing

"Friendship is born in that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one!"
-C.S. Lewis

She has never looked happier. Our friendship started in middle school. In High School, we were inseparable and spent many years in spandex shorts traveling around with our volleyball team. Now, Carissa is wearing spandex for a different reason...A BABY BUMP!!! When Carissa called me to tell me she was having a baby, I couldn't have been happier. She is going to be a fabulous mama, her baby boy is loved so much already.

Carissa and Jarred met me at their home and we drove to his parents house for the pictures. They have beautiful property, it was sunny and warm and full of pretty locations. Jarred and Carissa are the kind of people that make me want to be in love. It is obvious they love each other, that they know each other, that they are going to be great parents. They laughed the whole time and I wouldn't have it any other way. At the end, they even sent me home with some fresh watermelon. Yes please, I would love to get fruit every time I took pictures. Foreal.

We spent a while talking about the past and the good memories that we will never forget. But mostly, we talked about the future. Because the future is full of hope, full of life, full of changes. Carissa, I adore you and am so glad to get to be with you during this time! You are going to be a great mama. I can't wait to meet your little peanut.

Baby Brody Michael is scheduled to arrive the end of August, and I'm sure there will be some pictures of his precious face shortly after.

Everyone, have babies. Because they are precious. And baby bumps are the cutest fashion accessory. Check it out.

This last one is my favorite. They seriously have the best time with each other. Jarred, keep good care of Carissa. She is lovely.

Life is better in spandex. Just ask someone who's preggers.

The Sound of Her Laughter.

"If there ever is a tomorrow where we're not together, there is something you must remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart, I'll always be with you."
-Winnie the Pooh

Her laughter makes my home feel alive. Like every day is a surprise party. The most boring things become exciting because she has decided to make life the best it can be. She doesn't walk through life, she dances and skips. She doesn't wear beige, she wears leopard print and flowers in her hair. She doesn't do anything with a frown, she lives life fully.

Liz has lived with my family since September and has become more than just a house guest. She is family now, a sister that has enhanced my life and brightened my days. She is moving home to her family in Minnesota in August, but I have no fear that she will stay close to my heart forever. Sometimes life does that, it gives you people that you never know how you lived without. She is honest, trustworthy, full of life, joy and sparkles.

Liz Beth, you are radiant and beautiful. I will miss the sound of your laughter. You have grown so much in the last two years and are so capable of anything you want. You are strong, and kind, and sensitive to the people around you. Dream big dreams, lovely. You got it guuuuurrrrrrrl.

Life is full of reasons to laugh.
